Athanasios Kountzeris

Greek Information Society Observatory

Dr. A. Kountzeris holds an MSc from the Department of Electrical Engineering,
University of London (Imperial College) and a PhD in Systems Engineering from the University of Sussex in the UK.

He has an extensive on-the-field experience in analysis, design and development of information systems and services, acting as a consultant, project manager and coordinator of numerous ICT projects in Greece and Europe including CORDIS, SIMAP, ESPRIT, FP5, FP6 and FP7 projects in the sectors of Enterprise Applications, eBusiness, eGovernment and eParticipation Systems.

He is currently a senior researcher at the Greek Information Society Observatory with responsibility for assessing quantitative and qualitative data on issues regarding e-Government and e-Inclusion in Greece and the EU and contributing to the relevant ICT policies in Greece. Specific interests: Monitoring e- Government and e-Inclusion in Greece and the EU – indicator framework development & measurement - Evaluation and assessment of Public Administration on-line services, setting up and management of working groups and networks with public and private institutions, NGOs social partners, scientists and other interested parties with a view to promoting dialogue, exchange experiences and foster innovative partnerships.

Dr Kountzeris is a member of the Steering Committee of the e-Government Forum in Greece, a member of the EC’s Inclusive eGovernment ad-hoc Group of Experts and a member of the National Technical Chamber of Greece.
